Works reasonably well but has some issues. The forward/reverse switch has a tendency to slip out of the forward position and needs to be reinserted. I had an old B&D half-inch drill that required the switch to be held in place the entire time. I was hoping they fixed it. The keyless chuck is also sometimes loosened.
I have a 6 amp version of this drill (body is identical) from 2017 and have used it on many projects. I expect this 5.5 amp model to perform the same as my 6 amp model. I've used it successfully to mix paint, drill holes in 4x4 racks up to 1" thick, drive 6" wood studs connecting 2x4 to 4x4, etc. I also have several BD 20V battery packs -Power tools and I LOVE them, but sometimes you need them AC torque to get the job done right and that's where this drill bit fills the gap. The very first thing I did was jab my hand with the club that was attached to the bottom of the handle. Yes, that flathead screwdriver was sharp. I removed it right away. whatever it is Then I plugged it in and tried the speeds. For comparison, I have an old Craftsman variable speed drill that has enough torque to break your wrist. Feel that this B&D drill has a lot of torque. I like it. The trigger allows you to run it at a very slow speed. I like it. But if you look at it, the cartridge seems
