Review on πŸ’» SIIG's Legacy and Beyond Series PCIe to USB 3.0 7-Port PCI Express Card for External PCIe Host, with UASP Support by Michael Domus

Engineering can return to the drawing board.

I bought this card to add non-hub ports to my Gigabyte Z390 Designare motherboard with Windows 10, mainly for connecting music hardware, and it didn't have it is working. At first I thought it might be a driver issue, but it's not. Bad PCI-E port? nope The card said it was a power outage condition so I sent the first one back and got a replacement. Connected the second and the same problems. I checked the Molex connector, it was putting out power so there were no problems. I finally got a card from another manufacturer, plugged it in and it worked straight away. A few bad things about this card aside from not working. The Molex plug required for the power supply, which incidentally does not come with an adapter, is very difficult to connect. I don't know if it's the pins or the plastic pad, but be careful as the connector isn't solid on the board. Second, the USB ports are oriented vertically, which ensures a tight fit when connecting devices when the PCI slots on the back aren't wider. Overall, the number of USB ports makes it attractive, but it's not well designed. I chose SupaHub and it comes with all adapters and works like a charm.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
