Review on Coralife 05692 Pure Flo 50 Gallon System by Tammy Freeman

The first one I got I sent back as our handyman and then the plumber couldn't get it to work properly. The water overflowed and flooded the garage in just a few hours. So we were sure it was defective and sent it back for replacement. After seeing the guys do it I figured I could install it myself, which I did. Same problem. It just ran out of water. Here's what I finally found out. Inserting the TFC diaphragm into the diaphragm housing involves aligning it properly with the o-ring. Well, there are two o-rings on the end so both the guys and I figured that's what the instructions say, but after 2 hours of disassembly and reassembly I realized that that little black "extra washer" wasn't a washer is...it's the o-ring they're talking about. Nowhere in the instructions or parts list is that little black "O-ring" mentioned. But this is the part that needs to be attached to the end of the membrane filter for the device to work properly! When I realized it was working perfectly. It slowly drips clear clear water and filters out all the bad. IT WORKS OUT! I also noticed that this one I received had some plumbing tape on the threads, thought it was a returned pad. I was wondering how many people have sent them back thinking they were defective. I used tape on each joint and tightened everything up nice and tight. And like I said, once that "O-ring" was in the right place, it worked like a charm. I would give it 5 stars but the instructions need to be clearer. I still wonder how many people have sent them back without realizing that that little puck-like thing is an o-ring that the instructions say needs to be put in along with the membrane filter.
