At first I loved this product. It's well made, excellent padding, and easy to install with nice pockets and a lock. It held my mountain bike well, though I did have trouble getting the strap to reach over the cross bar so that the padding on the strap was actually contacting my bike. Instead, I just had to pull really hard to get some of the strap to reach around it and then lock it into the clasp.That would have been fine until I tried to use it with both of my road bikes. Both road bikes had the same problem as the mountain bike. The crossbar was not close enough to the tailgate to get the strap around it correctly. In addition to that, the bottle cages on all 3 bikes interfered with the position of the strap. (see image).Because there is only 1 strap holding the bike to the pad and the pad is flexible and stretches a bit, it does not securely hold the road bikes. They both slipped in the strap and fell sideways while driving. I tried to use a bungee cord to help hold it in place, but it still falls over (see image).I believe the mountain bike stayed in place better because it had big wheels that fit into the grooves of my truck better as well as a crossbar that was a little closer to the tailgate. Going back over the reviews, I noticed most photos were of very weird-shaped bikes or mountain bikes.I'm returning this product because it doesn't do what it is intended for. It won't hold bikes in place. The road bikes fall over and pull and twist on the pad. The product is well made, but the functionality doesn't work for me.
