Unfortunately I had to cut this wire to length for this application, but I could see the inside of the cable jacket. High quality 14 gauge conductors in a soft rubber sheath. There are no cotton fillers in the strand strand, so the sheath completely encloses the cores. If you're stripping the sheathing like I did, I suggest using a razor blade and gently moving the blade across the cable, being careful not to cut the conductor's sheathing. The fork was an added bonus. The construction feels solid and I don't foresee any durability issues. It would be great if this swivel fork came with different gauges of wire as the 14 gauge is a bit heavy for some applications.
