My First Cell Phone Bike Mount

This is the first phone bike mount I've tried. I have a Samsung S8+ in a Spigen case and it fits snugly in the mount that attaches to the side bar that supports the handlebar grips. I already have a flashlight and old-fashioned bike computer attached to the handlebars, so this seemed like the best (and only) place. It seems to hold the phone in a fairly fixed position, although I haven't ridden over particularly bumpy terrain; This is an English Rider style bike with drop handlebars and I mostly ride my bike on paved roads and bike lanes. But even so, there are bumps that challenge the built-in devices. The phone stayed in place, which is good. There are now dozens of apps for cyclists, motorcyclists & Co. They are amazingly accurate and in fact you no longer need a bike computer these days, with the exception of CATEYE, of course. or similar device will last for months on a charge and is reasonably reliable and accurate when properly calibrated. But putting a phone on a bike is a great experience. It's clear, easy to see and the right app will give you tons of information about your trip. If you wear a smartwatch, you can also check your heart rate! In any case, my only concern is that the phone rises about 4 inches off the handlebars. Since I drive English style and lean quite far forward, the phone is almost in front of my face. I would have liked something closer to the handlebars. It's okay, and for $10 I don't expect perfection, but I'll look for a "flatter" design at some point. The Spigen mount rests on a silicone rubber strap that keeps the phone firmly attached to the mount. It works well, although my S8+ has the corners covered by silicone. So I can't see the clock and email notifications in the top status area. Not that important, but worth considering. Perhaps they could improve this by providing clear silicone? Spigen also offers backup silicone rubber in case it breaks. Probably buy it again, although as I mentioned it might be more suited to a mountain bike configuration. a place where you ride more upright.

Pros
  • ADJUSTABLE ROTATING A 360 degree rotating mount that allows you to view your devices vertically or horizontally, like a secure bike phone mount. Detachable magnetic mount base can be swapped out for another type of Spigen mount base (A251 and A252)
Cons
  • Hard to say
