Review on πŸ“ Sabrent [New Version with UASP Support] Slim USB 3.0 to 2.5-Inch SATA External Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure [Black] (EC-UK30) by David Carmody

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Constant interruptions and freezes writes

Sloppy QA from the manufacturer. This device is equipped with a USB 3.0 Type A connector and should come with an AA cable to connect the drive to a PC, media station, etc. For some reason they sent me an A to micro type B cable which means nothing to do with the fact that I can't link Very disappointing and really weird. There is no Micro Type B connector anywhere on this thing! If the manufacturer or Revain provide me with the correct cable, my rating will definitely improve. The case is nice and looks pretty solid. The only other issue (and it's reasonable) is that the 2.5-inch drive rattles inside the case. You can cut a piece of styrofoam from the item's inner packaging to prevent this, but it will still chip off **UPDATE 6/7/2017** I've been using this case for about a week now and have a few thoughts Firstly has Revain hands down the BEST customer support. They fixed my problem straight away and now I have the right USB A> cable so I can actually use the drive. As I mentioned earlier, there is quite a bit of headroom inside the case, which is bad design through and through. Unless you cut the foam yourself to fit in after the disc is inserted, it will wobble with an audible noise when you move the disc. I've also had multiple instances on multiple PCs where the drive would suddenly freeze or freeze, forcing me to disconnect and reconnect the drive to access folders again. I swapped out the actual hard drive to make sure it wasn't defective and that's what it looks like. ta the case itself. The case is cute and very thin, but it's poorly designed and the quality control leaves a lot to be desired. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you don't want these little hassles. They make a huge difference in the quality of life**UPDATE 6/19/2017**I would like to thank Manny at Sabrent for sending me a replacement drive after contacting me. The replacement I received came with the correct USB cable and the drive worked fine. Rattling is still possible if you don't use the foam method mentioned above, but otherwise the case is solid. Anyway, thanks to the Sabrent customer service team for getting it right and for their impeccable integrity** UPDATE 10/20/2017. Okay I tried to ignore the shortcomings of this hull because of their amazing support team and how beautiful the hull was but enough is enough. I've never had a device connect and disconnect randomly in my life. Caching while playing? The entire program freezes because the device is in limbo. Are you trying to access a folder? Windows Explorer crashes because folders appear and disappear. I thought my drive might have failed on its own, but lo and behold, putting it in an alternative enclosure solved all of those problems. The lack of body friction is still an issue if you don't already have lather, and the wild disconnects are incredibly annoying. Avoid this drive at all costs, just pay an extra buck or two for an Inateck case and be solid.
