I only use the basement light when I have the stair light on (when I go to the basement). But when I went upstairs I kept leaving the basement light on after I turned off the stairwell light and saw that the basement was still light. To do this I have to go downstairs to turn them off again. I used this product to connect a basement light source and control it with a stairwell light switch. For the basement lighting, both the staircase light switch and the basement light switch must now be switched on. Even if I forget to turn off the light in the basement, it now goes off when I turn off the light switch in the stairwell, even if they are on different circuits.
