This is EXACTLY what you need to check the temperature of your cooking grate!
I have always used a regular gauge on the front of my grill. But they just aren't accurate enough to tell you when your real grills are heating up. The ambient temperature inside the grill has little effect on the browning of steak/chops/hamburgers. the temperature of the grids is most important. Without this heat gun it is very difficult to determine the exact temperature. It's the perfect companion for your grill and smoker when looking for hot spots or just want more accurate temperature checks. Definitely 5 stars!
