Review on ๐Ÿ”ง High-Performance Airtex AW6244 Engine Water Pump by Anthony Cayton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Long term: no problems so far

Installed on my wife's 2007 R56 hardtop about 6 months ago. Looks like a good quality part, much cheaper than buying from a mini dealer. All metal construction versus the original plastic construction (although I've read that the new OEM parts are all metal. I'm sure the engineers just had no idea the plastic wouldn't last more than 75,000 miles./sarc) The installation was much more difficult than expected. I think it took me about 6 or 7 hours. This is of course BMW's fault, not Airtex's. If you don't want the work (or pay for it) you might want to consider buying an OEM part because if it fails you'll have to do the work over and over again. I thought worst case scenario if I have to do it twice then at least the second time should be easier but so far everything seems to be holding up. Update: Almost a year later and over 15,000 miles since this water pump was fitted. Still good as far as I can tell. At 60,000 I give 5 stars! If we don't sell the car first.
