This is a nice standard rug; heavy and strong enough (there are some very thin and fragile rugs/rugs available), with a non-slip backing to keep it in place as it should. We actually use it indoors, at the bottom of the stairs, because our dog has trouble moving from the carpeted stairs to the wooden deck. By placing the rug/mat on the bottom, he can walk down the stairs to a level surface without slipping on the hardwood. strange dog; I know.
