should be good for inflators and accessories
Not knowing they had a best before date mine was not changed as the vest was new. He didn't get wet as the boat was covered and also under an awning. So my guess is that a few years of hot weather caused it to inflate itself. I think changing the spool every few years will save you the hassle of having to replace the cartridge and pen when they fail.
