I bought this gate in February 2013, over four years ago. As a mom, I find these goals indispensable in everyday life. The father in the house hates it. (So I had to deduct a star for all the abuse I've received over the years because of this gate. All this time he's been struggling with his existence. Poor bastard! However, he only paid for the new purchase because the gate expired after four Years of wear and tear and abuse from many children and young people is beyond repair This morning one of the latches literally broke out of the frame Honestly I'm surprised this hasn't happened before there has been a lot of climbing, poking over the last 4 years and rattling happens to this gate.Rather than buying something else we buy new ones so we don't have to mount through all the new holes in the wall frame.The reason my husband still prefers this model is because the gate can be removed, which we had to do many times (new appliances, moving furniture, and this time we were renovating the bathroom, and the contractors kept falling into the trap when they could en cannot find out how it was opened). Unfortunately my precocious 2 year old figured out how to open the gate. It's quite noisy in there though, I can hear her doing this and stop her when I don't want her to come down the stairs. I insist on replacing it now because it helps keep the dog off the dinner table and we'll be having another baby soon. That's 4 more years. I hope.
