These shorts are well made. The crotch is pleated so you don't have to worry about breaking when you crouch or bend down. My shorts are above the knee, I'm 6 feet tall. All pockets are usable, some of the shorts I tried are too tight around the hips making some pockets unusable. I recommend increasing the size to solve this problem if you have the same problem with other brands. The stretch at the waist is functional, but I don't recommend using this feature as an excuse to try sizing down, see the discussion about pockets again. All the features of this product make the shorts perfect for those who want to carry and organize their EDC gear without having too many things in one pocket or the other.
