Don't hesitate: Safety work gloves
These gloves worked for about 6 hours before becoming almost useless. They were used to hold a metal bar welded to a forged steel billet. In terms of heat resistance, they were slightly better than leather welding gloves, but certainly did not protect up to 1500 degrees.
