I am by no means a serious or competitive cyclist. I ride all roads and average about 40 miles a week. Until recently, I didn't pay much attention to my chain. I decided it was time to do my own maintenance instead of taking it to the shop. I have found this fluid and chain cleaner to work very well. I am very happy with how the chain looks and performs. According to the manufacturer, the cleaning solution can be filtered and reused. I used an old face mask as a filter. I inserted it into a small funnel and placed the funnel's spout in the original liquid container. The mask seemed to filter out old grease and dirt quite well. Handling the chain cleaner takes some getting used to. As long as you keep it steady and in line with the chain you won't have any problems. The lube applicator has a feature that allows lube to be dispensed through the star applicator on the bottle. I found it too messy and wasteful. Instead, I used the applicator on top of the bottle. It took a little longer, but I found the app to be much more accurate and less confusing. I would give these five runs if the lube applicator was less messy.
