The tip of the button was silver so I took an emery board and ran it over the ends of the button and hook and of course both sides are silver. Without scientific testing, I would assume this is coated with some aluminum that makes it look like gold. It's not heavy enough to be brass. It's too shiny to be brass. I just don't think it's brass. If you want to keep your dog with you, it must be a very small dog. I cropped the image of only the ends of the clasp and hook. Looks like silver to me. I will request a refund.
