When I received the item, a pair had black spots. I thought I could clean it but the stains were actually damaged metal and couldn't be cleaned. I used another pair and OMG this machine gave off a toxic smell when turned on. They rusted quickly when soaked in water, so not entirely rustproof. Maybe very cheap stainless steel. I cooked with the kids and had to stay away so they wouldn't smell like burnt plastic/metal. I do not recommend this item, especially if there are children around.
