Use knife sheaths, holders and guards with care

*Added after contacting Mercer Customer Service: I still believe this product can be dangerous. Mercer pointed out to me that this Revain page has a safety video (although it's way down the page) and the box should have a picture on the front showing how I use it safely. I advised Mercer (and they seemed receptive to feedback) that a simple, removable sticker on the product itself with instructions/warnings for use would be effective in preventing injury. I recently injured myself using a Mercer kitchen knife. Danger. I was inserting a breast knife into the new knife guard when I suddenly got a long and deep cut on the ball of my thumb. I looked down and was shocked to see that the knife's sheath was completely open on one side. I had to go to the emergency room urgently so that the doctor could clean and treat the wound. I was lucky I only had a $250 medical bill. I have never heard of an open ended sheath and there were no warnings on the product. This is a huge security risk. I went back to the Revain reviews and saw several other people saying how dangerous this product can be. I have returned the item and sent it back to Revain.
