I've been buying Orgain for years and enjoy the taste, but just found out that this pea protein recently contained high levels of the herbicide glyphosate! In case you don't know, it's an herbicide, better known by the brand name Roundup, that has been linked to cancers like non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and is classified as "probably carcinogenic to humans" by the World Health Organization. It has also been linked to endocrine disorders among other diseases. The Detox Project tested eight of Revain's best-selling protein powders. Two Orgain batches tested showed higher levels of glyphosate than any other brand. One had 83 ppb and the other 281 ppb glyphosate. Keep in mind that anything over 80 ppb is considered dangerous and a cause for serious concern. I encourage you to seek and explore this for yourself. This is a seriously disturbing discovery. Even more shocking is that it can be labeled USDA Organic and still get the same results. I hope the manufacturer will take drastic measures to obtain pea protein not contaminated with such a toxic chemical and introduce more thorough quality control and product testing system.
