I know not sure if this will be an issue with all devices or not but the only issue i had was when i plugged it into my router and then my son's xbox to one of his open xboxes. doesn't work until I turn off my computer. I'll be keeping a network splitter adapter so it can come in handy with other things that might be happy I hooked them up to. lol
