Review on Ultimate Protection: Tamper Resistant Weather Resistant Receptacle Indicator by Bryan Orozco

A good product isn't a device, it's you

I was a handyman (HVAC) involved in carpentry, soldering, welding, plumbing and extensive electrical work. This device is well made and will be installed correctly if and only if you know what you are doing. Rated at 20 amps, this Gfci is designed to work with either 14 or 12 gauge wire. You do not wrap the wire around the screws, but instead insert the bare wire into a hole in the back of the unit. Then tighten the screw that clamps the wire inside. If you unscrew the bolt all the way, you will lose the inner nut that attaches to it. The screws are backed out far enough to get the job done, but if necessary, just unscrew them until you feel a slight resistance. No longer. Make sure you connect the two screws marked "Power" and not "Load". If you're not sure what you're doing, find someone who will. "I have an old friend who is so bad at electronics it's shocking." DON'T BLAME THE DEVICE FOR YOUR FAULTS. Find out how to do it right!

Pros
  • SECURITY - ANKO GFCI USB socket conforms to UL-listed YGB-095WR, 20A, 125V, 60Hz. The tamper-resistant outlet prevents small children from plugging unwanted objects into outlets. For an additional layer of protection, the GFCI regularly performs an automatic internal test to confirm that it can respond to a ground fault and provide continuous ground fault protection.
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
