While they fit down the garbage chute drain very well, they are short lived. As you can see in the photos of the first two I installed, the rubber starts to warp and buckle after about two weeks of use. Once this happens, food gets stuck on the edges and the only way to recycle it is to push it through with cutlery. I will look into other alternatives in the future.

Why oh why didn't I replace the splash guard sooner? Great replacement for a rotten or torn precision grinder splash guard, then simply slide one of these pressure-replaceable replacements into space until it lines up with the edge of the chopper sponge. Got these for a 3-1/8" sink drain and they are perfect for a snug fit. The best part is you can pull out the protective cover to clean it and the inside of the grinder and then put it back in. The packaging should last for several years.
