Excellent 20A GFCI in electrical

Harder to find but required for my application. This block is well built. GFCI and weatherproof socket. When nothing is connected, there appear to be nylon plugs covering the holes. Installs easily. Required a reset on the outlet and has been working great ever since. Instead of wasting a day looking for a 20 amp GFCI I just ordered from Revain and got on with my day.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction

  • Has issues

Terminals are ok

I don't know how long it will last given the price. It's easy to connect and works great. The green LED could be brighter. To connect: The screws must be unscrewed as far as they will go. It goes like this, so if you've never taken them, you're fine. While holding the screw, insert a straight, stripped wire into the hole. Tighten the screw. The mother presses the wire against the inner electrode and no longer rattles. There is a measuring strip on the back of the device. All wiring, including…

Pain in the back to install if you have a thicker wire do not buy

I should have read more reviews, I had the same problem as other people. The ladder bolts are held in this rattle by nuts instead of staying in place. If you unscrew the bolt all the way, the nut will fall out, leaving you unable to tighten anything. The only way to install is to back out the screw by hand as far as you can until it is tight and held, and then try to push the wire down around the screw. But because it doesn't screw into the body, but is a real free-floating nut, the screw…

Solid product, strong feeling

Solid product. Looks good and high quality. It took me over half an hour to install one of them. But that's because of my mistakes. The labels and directions are clear, but it took me a lot of trying to figure it out. Again, make sure you connect the wires from the wall to the "line side", not the "load" side. Also make sure the hot wire (mine is black) is connected to the "hot wire" and the white wire (mine is actually white) is connected to the "white wire". Sounds obvious, but it took me a…

A good product isn't a device, it's you

I was a handyman (HVAC) involved in carpentry, soldering, welding, plumbing and extensive electrical work. This device is well made and will be installed correctly if and only if you know what you are doing. Rated at 20 amps, this Gfci is designed to work with either 14 or 12 gauge wire. You do not wrap the wire around the screws, but instead insert the bare wire into a hole in the back of the unit. Then tighten the screw that clamps the wire inside. If you unscrew the bolt all the way, you…

Pros
  • SECURITY - ANKO GFCI USB socket conforms to UL-listed YGB-095WR, 20A, 125V, 60Hz. The tamper-resistant outlet prevents small children from plugging unwanted objects into outlets. For an additional layer of protection, the GFCI regularly performs an automatic internal test to confirm that it can respond to a ground fault and provide continuous ground fault protection.

DO NOT reverse the screws!

Just installed a new outlet. I'm a terrible DIYer but this one worked. Luckily my instinct was NOT to remove the screws! I've read about problems where people loosen screws and they fall apart inside. DO NOT DO THAT! Simply insert the wires into the appropriate holes and tighten the screws from their original position. It worked well. I was surprised myself at how easy it was. Like many of you, I couldn't get my plugs into the new outlet! I looked for advice on the internet and had success…

Pros
  • Self-Test - Two indicator lights provide simple and intuitive information on power and protection status. If the indicator (LED) is green, you have installed the GFCI socket correctly and it is working properly. The GFCI socket automatically performs a self-test (red LED flashes once) every 40 seconds to ensure the GFCI is always working. When the GFCI socket is nearing the end of its life, a red light will illuminate to remind you to replace the socket in time.
Cons
  • Out of fashion

It works great if you know how to use it.

In short, I agree with NealOh. I personally do NOT like wrapping wires around screw terminals. I prefer slots on the back of the outlet for two reasons. First, it's easier to protect. The second reason is that there is no bare wire on the side of the socket that could potentially contact another wire (eg I dare say it's safer to boot. I also agree with Neil Oh if you not sure what you are doing get help.It is not impossible to wire one of these incorrectly and then the GFCI wins.t provide the…
