Although they are very good, the fabric is strong nylon, thicker mesh and smaller holes, but the feed still comes out, but not all over the bottom. Nath'l Audubon checked. It fills thicker than regular socks. I was a little concerned that the center might get wet and moldy. Well after a really good shower the other day I went out the next day and shook the seeds, they were dry but I figured this would keep them from sticking together into a moldy mass and that seems to have done it. In any case, there's no harm in shaking it up a bit. Once filled it lasts a long time, probably because it doesn't leak everywhere on earth.
