Review on πŸ”§ HHIP 4401 0811 Mini Universal Magnetic: A Compact and Versatile Tool for Magnetic Applications by Tyler Born

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent positional control but mediocre magnetic base.

While this device offers excellent display position control, it has one major drawback that spoils the full excitement. The problem is the magnetic base. It works very well on thick, high iron steel, but does not have enough magnetic force to stick firmly to many other steel substrates. For example, this system worked very well on my Jet Lathe, but would not attach securely to the base of my Wen Drill. However, if you can attach the magnetic base firmly, the fine adjustment provides excellent control, much better than the other two display systems I've worked with.

Pros
  • For 3/8" dial and dovetail displays
Cons
  • A few minor things
