A device I bought actually works very well. I modified the cables to connect directly to my battery cable by adding an industry standard mating connector for the manufacturer to consider. Finally, if you're keeping an eye on your battery level, there should be a quick way to connect your charger, which is why you're adding a battery monitor in the first place. Makes it very convenient. As this was for an older MX5 model with the battery located above the motor I was able to extend the supplied (short) wires to securely attach the unit to the velcro fender away from heat and vibration. This should definitely extend the life of the device. Bluetooth range is about 10-12 feet with the hood down, which is good enough for me. It's amazing to be able to easily check the battery level remotely on a rarely used vehicle. As others have pointed out, the app should report voltage and not percentages and warnings. The percentage display is also partially hidden in the app on the S9 plus. The percentage doesn't make sense, so I'd omit it altogether. give me a volt The lifespan of the device is currently unknown, but it's a great idea, but the app needs a little tweaking. Simple design tweaks would make this a must have and I will consider buying it for the rest of my cars (may still do so if unit lifespan is acceptable).
