I have curly, wavy hair down to my collarbone. I gave up ironing about 10 years ago. They have always made my fine hair look flat, tousled and chunky. I used to buy $20 and didn't think the expensive ones were any better. But then I saw on Pinterest that you can use flat irons to curl and shape your hair as well as straighten it. Decided to try iron again. I was looking for the best for fine hair and found this one from Centrix. It's $119 on some popular beauty sites, but I got it for less than $50 on Revain. It's very easy to "float" the ceramic plates so they lie softly but snugly together without catching my hair. I also like the adjustable temperature so I can use the least amount of heat needed to get the results I want. The higher quality of this iron definitely makes a difference. I was able to straighten my hair without having to go back to the same sections and my hair was straight but still had volume and wasn't frizzy. I'm still working on curls and other techniques, but it seems possible with this straightener. ** 6 month update ** I now wear my hair about 4 inches shorter, down to my shoulders. I can use this straightener to style my hair in beachy waves. The key for me was to use smaller sections. It's a weird little curl if I'm not careful, but with the right technique it's really cute.
