This tool wasn't good for piercing the tough green outer shell of young coconuts (would have taken too much force, maybe I didn't have) but this is very useful to get a softer white cork on the inside after cutting the green outer sleeve. Because of the tool's angle and ease of rotation, it works better than a cork remover knife. I use a strong serrated knife to snip off the outer green husk on top of a young coconut and then use this tool to pry out the plug to get at the coconut water.
