Review on Filtrol Lint Filter: Advanced Washing Machine Filter for Septic Systems, Targets Microfibers Effectively by Brad Wall

Works great with lint remover

Just did my first wash with Filtrol. It was easy to install. However, I had to buy a new drain hose for the washing machine. When considering how to install this I realized the existing hose was too short so I figured I'd just buy an extension hose. But when I pulled the washing machine out of the wall, I found that when it came out of the washing machine, the hose was really pinched. I'm surprised he even got out. So instead of lengthening the hose, I bought a new, longer one. The drain pipe is about 5 feet off the ground, so the Filtrol needs to be above that level, which makes it stand quite high against the wall. But it works. I now have a small stool next to the washing machine so I can remove the filter and clean it. I have found that the clamps supplied are fully functional. I've used it and there are no leaks. (I ran the download before putting the puck back in just to check for leaks.) I'm very glad I finally did. I don't have a septum. But I do know that all the fibers in my clothes end up in the city's sewers, and many of them end up in the sewage system. This is of particular concern when we're washing things like fleece and other non-natural fibers that don't biodegrade in the water column. I take comfort in not adding much to the "trash patch" of tiny bits of plastic and fiber in the oceans. I also don't have to worry about my drain pipe being clogged. All in all it's worth it for me. The directions are complete. Mine arrived without a tube of rubber seal lube, but I called the company and they immediately sent a replacement.
