This filter is designed for Volvo without cabin filter system " ( The air recirculation button is on "automatic -manually" set), but can also be used with Volvos (S60s, older S80s I think, and definitely XC90s) with a "cabin filter system" if you put that filter in the slot closest to the passenger seat , and you don't mind having the "charcoal" filter part of the filter that absorbs odours. There are two slots in the Volvo cabin filter area. Non-charcoal filter - example Mann part number CU2855. Farthest from the passenger seat (am closest to the firewall) is a 1.5" thick carbon filter slot - an example is Mann part number CUK2855. ter - Inserts into the rear slot in the filter compartment I (in the direction of the fire wall) used. Without "cabin filter system" use thinner 1" pleated filter - Inserts into the front slot in the filter area (towards the passenger seat).
