Exactly what I expected

Works exactly as expected. It's Arduino compatible and the libraries are easy to find. I've used it to measure objects 1-2 inches from the sensor. The only downside is that the size/surface area of the object can slightly affect the measurements.

Pros

VL53L1X Long Range Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor, 4 meter accuracy, 50Hz measurement frequency. The VL53L1X uses ST's latest ToF technology, which combines physical infrared filters and optical components to provide ranging and interference immunity regardless of target color and reflectivity.
