The good news is that it works. All buttons do what they are supposed to do with our Samsung Smart TV right out of the box. Of course, this also applied to the supplied remote control. The reason we bought it was the backlight because we mostly watch TV at night and my night vision is, well, poor. The bad news is that the backlight is terrible. If you've seen properly backlit remotes where all the buttons have a nice, even blue tint, dare I say futuristic glow. it's not like this. It's more like someone took the original remote apart, vaguely stuck a spare Christmas light bulb in the middle, and put it back together. The light is uneven and uncomfortable to say the least. I mean, for $13 I guess I can't complain too much (and I'm still here) but honestly, Samsung should take care of that upfront so we don't end up with ugly knockoffs.
