I used it for the first time this weekend to accommodate 12 people. I made a full 5 cups of uncooked basmati rice and used the White Rice (regular) setting at the recommended waterline. It lasted 53 minutes. The texture of the rice looked the same as it was in the restaurant and was beautifully presented for the reception. But I don't know if it tasted better - basmati rice is flavorful and delicious on its own. Today I made 3 cups of Planet Rice Sprouted Rice and used the GABA Brown Rice setting. I was very nervous because (1) my family doesn't like the softness and texture of brown rice and (2) GABA brown rice is so expensive so I didn't want to screw it up. It took 3.5 hours to make GABA. I started it after breakfast and it was ready for dinner. The rice was beautifully cooked, the texture was perfect and my family loved that the rice had nothing to do with the taste of brown rice. One of the best points was that there were no messy water splashes to clean. The Zojurushi measuring cup looks the same size as my regular rice cooker cup, but the amount of rice cooked was less than my regular rice cooker. Maybe the Zojurushi mug's design is deceiving? Tomorrow I will compare the amount of rice in a Zojurushi mug and a regular rice cooker mug to see the difference.
