Review on πŸ”₯ Coghlan's Cast Iron Cooker & Broiler: Efficient Outdoor Cooking Companion by Gerald Barrett

Great camping stove at a great price!

So far, so good! Important. As with any cast iron, season before use! I followed the recommended instructions on the product website and baked in the oven at 250 degrees for an hour. Haven't taken this to camp yet, but I've tried it both on the stove and around the campfire and so far it works with a little practice. Tried fried cheese, potatoes and fruitcake. My favorite is two slices of bread (buttered on the outside) with apple butter and cinnamon on the inside. It makes a quick apple turnover! I've had better results with canned fruit or jam - your bread will burn before you get enough heat to cook fresh fruit. You can try cake batter or phyllo batter, but so far I've only tried something that I've been able to replicate on the go almost effortlessly with minimal ingredients that need refrigeration. I didn't find the handles too flimsy like other reviews have said, but you wouldn't hold them all the time when cooking. You can find a log or rock to support it. The handles rotate easily to clean, pack or season your cooktop. For the price (I paid $15), this double cake iron is definitely a treat.

Pros
  • Heat-resistant wooden handles and lockable S-Lock ensure convenient and easy cooking
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
