This item is a gift for welders - check before trying to avoid eye injury

At first I thought I hit the jackpot by ordering this helmet; Attractive, cheap, and powered by solar power in full screen seemed good to be true. Unfortunately for me, as other reviews say: 1) The headrest/strap is too flat making it impossible to use unless you are in a Quasimodo-like pose so you can see your work. 2) The auto darkening feature is a joke - at first I thought it was a gimmick, I take off my helmet and start welding, the lens immediately darkens but only for a split second, then it turns an olive green Attitude towards re-grinding - definitely a WTF moment from me! Once my eyes adjusted, I took this helmet outside and repeated the process with the sun, although I didn't risk exposing my eyes to the sun's bright light like I do when welding. Tried adjusting the in-helmet buttons to their most sensitive settings, no change. I then figured that since it was 'solar powered' I left it in the sun for 1 day - no, 2 days - no, after three days I looked at the instructions that came with the helmet and found along with broken English sentences, he has a sealed watch battery locked in a lens that cannot be serviced. I emailed the seller/manufacturer of this helmet and got a similar reply in broken English which I think I should send back, which I did. I thought about giving it to my boyfriend as a joke, but then I realized I wouldn't be a good boyfriend if I did.
