Average quality, not an outstanding product.

I chose the drive according to the Hard Drive Failure Rates of the Backblaze cloud storage, ST6000DX000 and ST6000DM000 showed good reliability there, but we don’t sell ST6000DM000, and ST6000DX000 costs more than 41 thousand, so I decided to try the DM003 series. Maybe the number 3 at the end means 3rd grade - not marriage and they are sorted by surface quality, or am I just unlucky with this specimen?

Pros

ST6000DM003 - large capacity for a small price, quiet. For more than 15 years I have preferred Seagate, although lately it has been disappointing me, okay, another 80GB worked for 5 years as a system one and fell apart, but recently one archive (8-year-old STM31000340AS) for 1TB stopped being read, which was used once a year for archiving.

Cons

Reading speed is unstable. This works well for Victoria on a surface reading test. I bought it in Onlinetrade (order No. 20227082 dated 10/04/2022), tested it and passed it back the next day. The test revealed hundreds of blocks with a read time of more than 1 second, and this is on a new disk, but what will happen next? In general, I would not recommend buying the DM003 series. When returning to Onlinetrade, they also made a markdown of 5%. "found traces of operation" (abrasion on the contact pad of the connector). I don’t understand what is the use of reviews where they praise or scold the HDD for being fast or slow, instead of bringing its real characteristics in tests?
