Check engine light has been on and off for some time. The mechanics said it was the catalytic converters, the repairs for my F150 were estimated at $500-$800 in parts, that doesn't include the labor. I had an emissions test in a few days and didn't have much stock so I bought a Cataclean (followed the instructions) and bought this scanner. Let's just say I passed the tests. This thing helped me see the codes and read the I/M readiness after clearing the codes to see when my truck was done. Maybe a cheaper device would have helped but it gave me all the information I wanted and I now have a reliable device for any future problems that may arise.
