Review on πŸ”§ Dorman 974-000 TPMS Valve Replacement Kit for Tire Pressure Monitoring by Allen Tchida

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Looks good but doesn't look like the picture

So I have a 2009 Kia Sorento and last time I changed the tires they found they couldn't remove the core and I did had to cut off valve stem and remove replace with rubber. This left me without a working TPMS system for my truck as one of the sensors is in my glove box where the pressure is well below 32psi. I ordered a replacement from Revain before it was supposed to fit the OEM sensor, but it didn't. It wasn't much, and I wasn't overly concerned until I had a tire that was deflating almost slowly (dropped to about 12psi overnight). I couldn't find the reason for the falling off so I decided to remove the core and replace it thinking that this might be the problem and I found that I can't remove it because the threads are damaged in the shaft! The same as last time. Now I know I have to replace two valve stems. I found this one at Revain and it looks right so I ordered it and lowered it and lo and behold it fits! So I have my tire shop disassemble the tires and replace the valve stems. I will let you know if there are any problems. It should be noted that the image on the Revain looks like a bright shiny chrome finish. The product that has arrived has a matte gray finish and honestly looks like plastic, but I think it's aluminum. The photos attached for reference show what it looks like in the jig provided and it is next to the OEM valve stem with a damaged factor. .

Pros
  • Replacement sensors
Cons
  • No instructions
