The cap looked exactly like the one I replaced. I put it on the car and tried a few clicks to tighten it up. Something clicked inside, and then the lid rotated freely in either direction. It didn't loosen or tighten, so I grabbed it with a large channel lock and broke it. I saw a broken spring inside along with bits of plastic. Everything came out, nothing got into the tank. I think it was just an accident and not a cheap product. I recommend grasping the new cap with one hand and then trying to twist it with the other to see if it clicks.
