Fixes a problem we shouldn't have to deal with

I HATE the "new" style gas spouts. They're bad enough that the "aftermarket" has responded with "old" style spouts and breathers. These are a nice addition to an old style spout, to add a vent cap to a fuel can. They are easy enough to install, and so far have not leaked. My only complaint is that the rubber internal square ring ripped, but I was able to fix that with a new o-ring. Also, if the cap had a tether, they would be perfect.

Pros
  • To vent my fuel cans
Cons
  • The vent caps may cause the gas can to leak from the top

Several buyers indicated that some of their cans had an internal filter sleeve that prevented running the installation wire out the spout opening. Three of my diesel cans had these sleeves. In each case, I was able to pry part of the sleeve away from the internal wall of the opening and then use vice grips to yank it out. After installing the vent cap the sleeve popped back into place with a firm strike of the palm. Wham! Also, after putting the internal components on the wire, use your vice…

Pros
  • Nice addition to my old gas jugs.
Cons
  • The lanyard may be too short for convenient use

Easy install and a good option.

These vent caps are a quick and easy install of you're I'd say Level 3/10 savvy or above.Comes with a bendable wire for you to guide the fitting into the hole. I recommend bending the wire into a 'J' at the end to allow it to grip the fitting and you can pull the wire through because the drill bit taps a *slightly* tight hole.I instead of using pliers to keep the fitting from spinning I used a low-torque impact gun and a 13mm socket to gingerly zip the two ends together.Made for a nice clean…

Pros
  • as advertised
Cons
  • The lanyard may easily detach from the vent caps

Absolutely awesome solution to government stupidity

Absolutely awesome. If you hate the way the new gas cans are made, which everyone does, then get these. By having a smooth flow of fuel out of the gas can instead of the glug glug you get without a vent, you spill less fuel and get less fuel on yourself. The government really and truly screwed the pooch by forcing companies to make these new gas cans without vents. Until some sanity reaches our government and they change the stupidity. This is the best you can do.

Pros
  • These are great. No more gurgling ventless gas can. They were easy to install and work.
Cons
  • The lanyard attachment may be flimsy and break easily

Works but the cap is a little hard to keep up

Very sturdy and leak proof, my biggest complaint is you have to take the cap all the way off to get it to work and it's something small you have to not drop or misplace. Makes the flow super fast at that point, be ready to over fill your lawn mower in a split second. Wish it had a little more variable flow, it's all or nothing though.

Pros
  • I installed these in all of my gas cans. They were great with no leaks, makes pouring a lot easier.!
Cons
  • They allow air in so empty is at least 3 times faster, ya-hoo

Thank you for fixing my gas cans!

A bit difficult to install, specifically keeping the inside piece from twisting while tightening the outside. Drilling was easy and using the included wire to get the valve seated in the hole was pretty straightforward. I only got it rightfully hand tight but it’s been liquidproof and vaporproof now for many months. It’s easy to use and makes the flow rate fantastic.

Pros
  • Installs easy and works as expected.
Cons
  • The upgraded vent caps may not fit all sizes of gas cans

Vent allows easier pour

Venting a fuel can, especially the plastic ones we have today allows for an easier pour. The safety caps they use on the fuel cans are difficult to use for senior citizens. The safety caps require you to hold and squeeze the cap to release the fuel. For older folks, like me, I suggest using the smaller capacity fuel cans if you want to use the safety caps. When you drill the holes, watch carefully that no plastic particles fall into the gas can if you do not have empty cans. Plastic particles…

Pros
  • Worked perfect
Cons
  • The lanyard may become entangled with other objects in storage

Easy to install and they work great!

Several of my gas cans were a real pain to use since they didn't have a vent. Now I can pour gas from them quickly! Thanks for attention.

Pros
  • Makes the safety gas cans work much better. Definitely better than before. Highly recommend.
Cons
  • The vent caps may not be durable enough for long-term use

Perfect for the new safety cans

Was glad to get these. I'm sick of the gas cans without the vents. I had previously just drilled a little hole, but then you get some leakage. Installing these isn't too difficult but cannot be rushed. Kit comes with the wire down in the instructions.

Pros
  • Durable and Reliable
Cons
  • The lanyard may not be securely attached to the vent cap

Much less likely to leak than plastic

Most of the vents did not leak at all, One can vent has a slight leak which most likely was my error. it's full of gas so i will have to wait until the can is empty to take it out to examine it.

Pros
  • A little tricky to install. The drill bit is slightly large in my opinion but it doesn’t leak.
Cons
  • The lanyard may get tangled or caught on other objects

A bit tricky to install, but work well

These are far more functional than other types of vents installed after throwing out your government mandated spouts. They are a bit tricky to install and you really need to do it on a can which is empty. Not so much for a potential fire, but because you cannot avoid dropping plastic fragments in the can when drilling the hole. They work well, but be sure to find a flat spot so the o-rings can seal.

Pros
  • {}
Cons
  • The lanyard may be difficult to thread through the vent cap

Big improvement on my review.

The vents were easy to install, except that the outside o-ring wanted to roll and spin out from under the cupped washer while being tightened. So I lubed it up with petroleum jelly and held the cupped washer in place with needle nose pliers while tightening down the nut. Then it went together smoothly.

Pros
  • Environmentally Friendly
Cons
  • The vent caps may not be effective at preventing spills during transport

Works great good for me

These work great. I bought these to replace the version I had without the cap retainers. After dropping a couple of caps and not finding them I replaced mine with these. The retainer is worth it.

Pros
  • Easy to install and had no leaking. Installed 3 in 30 minutes. Good product.
Cons
  • The lanyard may easily break if twisted or torqued

Work perfect! for my opinion

I love these things but a word of advice. Think about where you will be putting them before hand. Think about where the gasoline will be when yo turn you can over to pour. You don’t want it coming out of these when you pour. Not all cans are created equal, but these are lol.

Pros
  • Fuel System
Cons
  • The lanyard may be too short for some users to tie to their gas cans

Take a little time to read their GREAT install guidance. Advice to use a older metal coat-hanger, (If you can find one anymore} ? Dam-it when all the old hangers are gone what the heck are we backyard mechanics going to do w/o having that much needed "Straightened Coat Hanger" Hopefully soon, we'll see in the Auto, an Lowes/Home Depots will start selling straightened mild steel bendable 24" to 36" length's --- 1/16" to 1/8" straighten round steel wire (rods) "Listen up" you entrepreneurs first…

Pros
  • Use it to keep from losing vent caps on my gas cans.
Cons
  • The vent caps may allow debris and insects to enter the fuel tank

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Easy To Install in my review

Easy to install, drill bit included, leak proof; wish cap had lanyard to secure to stem, to keep from losing cap. The lanyard may fray and become unusable over time.

Pros
  • They come with everything you need to install them. Even a drill bit. I'd buy again
Cons
  • The lanyard may fray and become unusable over time

Product worked good and saves filling time!

I could not tighten as tight as I would’ve liked to. But still a good product! I saved money by this item, without replacing 5 gallon gas cans.

Pros
  • Works great for what I'm using it for
Cons
  • The lanyard may be too thin for larger hands to grip

I'm using this vent on a diesel tank that fuels a small diesel heater in my overland trailer. For most applications it's probably an effective solution. In my case I'm hauling the tank inside a plastic bin or directly in the nose box on the trailer, and there is always some diesel leaking from it when we've been driving around. It appears that it's leaking at the actual seal to the tank (which is a metal container), rather than the vent cap itself. I've solved this problem by simply reducing the

Pros
  • Works great and very easy to install.
Cons
  • The vent caps may cause a reduction in fuel efficiency

Great products for my opinion

They were a little tricky to install but I liked the fact that the screw on caps are secured with a strap so they won't get lost or fall off .

Pros
  • Liked the valve stem design and if you loose the cap a regular tire valve stem cap will work just fine
Cons
  • The lanyard may easily become tangled while in use

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good product: my feedback

Easier to install than it looks. The drillbit pulled the plastic out of the can eliminating the potential contamination. After that, it's just being coordinated enough to get the fitting in. I was ready to toss my old gas cans because they were so annoyingly slow.

Pros
  • I hate the new pour spouts of today. This modification gets back to basics. Great product.
Cons
  • The lanyard attachment may attract unwanted attention and theft
