This is the second gel pack that I bought. The first was a different brand/model and the gel was encapsulated in little balls, but the gel, when frozen was rock hard. This gel pack is so much better for me because it remains soft and pliable, even when frozen. The pack is large and flexible and can be placed over an area like a shoulder or leg and it will relax over the area to provide immediate cooling comfort. The outer material is heavy and strong so I can just toss it in the freezer and it's ready to go any time I want to use it.
