So I bought this and some other essential oils and a carrier oil to mix together because someone kept giving my toddler granddaughter lice and I read that the bugs don't like certain scents and know the oil makes it easier to get the nits off. I leaned my lesson concerning lice products 20+ years ago when her mother got them from a kid in daycare and the product (one of the most famous ones then and now) caused all of her baby fine hair to break off after I used it on her. She had beautiful ringlets like a little doll but after one use, her hair was so bad and broken I had to give her a pixie cut and her hair never grew back the same >:( Fast forward 20 years and we tried the essential oils in sweet almond oil on her daughter. Being as that is it not a chemical solution, it didn't kill the bugs outright but they came out easily and seemed to keep them at bay until the scent was washed out of her hair and whoever she got them from gave them to her again. As soon as she moved away from her apartments, the lice stayed gone. In short (after a very long winded story), this product mixed with clove, eucalyptus and ylang ylang, mixed into a carrier oil or even leave in conditioner seem to work for lice on young kids without destroying their hair :)
