Missing fit/finish: filter

I would like to start by saying that I am very picky when it comes to product design and manufacture. So I would give it 3.5 stars overall because it was by far the best internal filter I could find and mostly got it right. improved, the fit/finish is a bit lacking, especially for something that is basically a molded plastic frame glued together (I've worked with injection molded automotive plastics and seen much more complex designs with better finishes which makes me think quality can out of control at the factory) and costs over $200 and just as annoying is Volant's customer service which doesn't seem to exist as I've tried contacting them 3 times to see if I accidentally got one of the older ones covers and I never contacted them or got a response from anyone. So my technical criticism is: 1. My lid is NOT tight. The plastic of the airbox is slightly concave midway between the 4 screw holes, leaving about a 3/32 gap between the lid and the box. So without sealing the hot air of the engine compartment.2. There is also no airtight seal around the opening that the air cleaner goes through, which in turn allows air to be drawn in from the engine compartment.3. The overall craftsmanship is a little sloppy, I had extra plastic edges on all lines of the mold, some even a bit sharp. All of that had to be ironed out. They appear to have been put together with just a little attention to detail. Again, this is a $200+ box, the craftsmanship should reflect that. Finally, the lack of a Donaldson Powercore filter is annoying. I understand it was designed for the SRT8 but that's a silly excuse because not only is the SRT8 compatible with the 5.7 Hemi, there are a few people who fit that exact box on their 5.7L (even more than that SRT8). so Volant should have found a solution, at least in hindsight, because the market for the SRT8 they thought they served doesn't exist, it's the 5.7-litre guys who buy it. Powercore is a much better filter, it makes sense to specify a compatible filter that the end user can update. Now take the extra time to fix the flounce artisans' inferior ship by sanding down the mold lines. I'm not sure how I'm going to solve the missing gasket issue. Maybe try a thicker EPDM gasket and see if that closes the gaps. And I can just cover the box with black butyl based reflective insulation to improve the game (and it might cost around $15 for stuff) and I will also buy a powercore filter and see the superior quality/ Get filtration which I should have had by now the box. So yes, overall I'm not dissatisfied with the purchase because Volant gave me a 70% discount, but the product could and should have been a lot cheaper. And 0 stars for customer service (I wonder if they even cover warranties)
