It keeps the temperature warmer than a regular mug, but as long as the lid is closed it's too hot to keep warm. After I remove the lid, the outside of the mug cools down pretty quickly. I would say it works no worse than a cheap thermos. No wonder, but since we're made as a small block, it's still handy for a few hours of warm coffee or tea.
