Review on Weco 37783000 Wonder Shell Ornament by Gloria Mesa

I started using Wonder Shells because I thought I needed it (who knows? Maybe I did). I had a bunch of shrimp (ghosts and amano at different times) in a 2.5 gallon nano betta tank. The shrimp kept dying. I've heard and read about miracle bowls. In addition to special cations, they are said to bring important (i.e. "essential”) minerals into the water to help shrimp, snails and fish. So I bought a few of the smallest ones and put one in the tank (I've read that you should only use about 20% of the amount on the packet). My shrimp lived longer. So I just kept using them and even bought them for my larger aquariums. Well I recently decided to buy a GH and KH test kit. I landed tanks and these parameters are important. They are also more important to your fish than pH. I tested the water in my aquariums. My GH was off the charts (I gave up after putting 60 drops of GH test solution in a vial). For reference, your GH should probably be in the 4-6 drop range. KH was a bit high (took 8 drops) but nothing like GH. My tap water has a GH of 6 and a KH of 4, which is almost perfect. I immediately removed the Miracle Clams from my tanks and began doing daily water changes to reduce ranges. My conclusion is this: if your water is ridiculously soft, or you're using reverse osmosis water, you may need Miracle Clams (or something similar). otherwise to add minerals). Or, if you choose to use Wonder Shells, maybe only use them from time to time (but check your GH and KH to be sure) rather than individually.
