Review on πŸ’ͺ Corsair SF450: High-Performance 450W SFX Power Supply - 80+ Gold Certified, Fully Modular by Bob Fasho

The SF series is great

Platinum 600W Modular SFX at a great price. The bonus is that the cables are sleeved to an acceptable quality to allow entry. This is by no means a store-bought custom braided cable, and the cable routing will bother anyone trying to insert cable combs. The included branded Velcro is a nice touch. As indicated in the listing, the fan is in silent mode and only turns on above a certain load. In my case, that's a bit annoying, because even 30% will be "still" for me and still moving air. I wished, there would be a switch on the power supply for this mode. Maybe even a tiny DIP switch for modular jacks. For those who need cable combs and nice clean cables, there are three things: 1) The cable glands are small, 2.5mm. This renders most large paracord combs useless. 2) A 24-pin cable is actually 27 wires. Also, some cables are smaller than the standard 2.5mm cable width. 3) To stand a chance of a clean 24-pin cable, you need to separate the connectors to change the cable routing. I think that's an oversight on Corsair's part, but having cables up your sleeves is bonus enough for me. I did all this with SF450 Platinum cables (same set), so YMMV and tread lightly. 3) To have a chance at a clean 24 pin cable, you need to disconnect the connectors to change the cable routing. I think it's a Corsair oversight but having cables up the sleeves is bonus enough for me. I did all this with SF450 Platinum cables (same set), so YMMV and tread lightly. 3) To stand a chance of a clean 24-pin cable, you need to separate the connectors to change the cable routing. Pros
  • Zero speed fan mode: Virtually silent at low to medium loads
Cons
  • A bit shabby
