We were happy about it and found other uses for it. If the HD is questionable, this is an additional device to test. However, when I decided to update the firmware, I encountered problems since the original drive had to be installed in the device. It has to be FAT23, which is difficult with large drives. I suggested StarTech make a SATA to USB adapter that would make this task easier. But even more important since we often exchange USB sticks in my region. This would be a great standalone device to wipe those questionable drives before installing them in your computer. Vote for StarTech and it can happen. They seem positive to me.
