Review on Awpeye Bicycle Handlebar Tape: 2 Pairs EVA Road Bike Bar Tape with End Plugs - Cycling Handle Wraps 4 Rolls (Black, Bianchi Green) by Anthony Cornelius

Good plain EVA bar tape

I have been wrapping bars for 35 years. During this time I have made hundreds of handlebars from a wide variety of products. EVA foam is the most common material you will find and it seems like they are all about the same. I usually prefer a mid-range ribbon like Profile Designs, but for some jobs a cheaper ribbon will do. Unfortunately, this is always a bit risky as cheap duct tape tends to rip apart when you stretch it to get a tight wrap. This tape was purchased to wrap the grip area of a vertical touring handlebar with bar end switches. I took a chance with this tape and figured I would have enough time to rewind the tape if it started to break. In the end it turned out that it wasn't necessary. This tape is very similar to Profile Designs Film and much cheaper. I can't comment on trim bands and to be honest I never use them. I prefer to tie hemp cord around the end of the whip to secure the handlebar wrap. It works better and doesn't leave sticky gum when moving around in the sun on a hot day.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
