"Green" formula is for smaller diameter fasteners, typically less than 0.25 inch. This formula can be applied prior to threading, or it can also soak into the threads to keep the threaded joint taut. This is a lower strength formula suitable for such smaller fasteners. I wouldn't normally use "green" for large fasteners. Instead, use a medium-strength "Blue" formula that can be softened with hand tools. Or, for a near-permanent installation, a high-strength "red" formula that will not come loose without the application of heat. Have a paper towel handy when using as the 'green' formula is so runny that it drips from the nozzle tip on the side of the bottle. With practice, you'll get better at dribbling.
